Hello Little Butterfly!

Being that today is the 4th Tuesday in the month, it's my day to post on Craft-Dee BowZ. This month we all shared a fancy fold card. I used this adorable image by Di's Digi named Hello Butterfly. For those of you surrounded by snow, I hope my card makes your toes feel warmer.

I don't make many fancy fold cards so this was my attempt. The paper is by Doodlebug, the fence die is by Magnolia; the cloud die is by Die-Namics, and the sentiment die is by Cheery Lynn. The flowers (and I added tiny rhinestones in the middle of each one) and leaves (I painted over each with my Wink of Stella green pen) are miscellaneous punches and the grass die is by Memory Box and was cut 4 times in 4 different green papers (yes, the grass is very lush!). Below is a side view so you can see my fold and how I layered my card with the fence on top of the flower paper, 4 layers of grass with the flowers and then the back layer was my image.

And here's a close up of this adorable Di's Digi image. I colored my image with Copics, but this time I used a different paper and am disappointed with it. My usual paper, Neenah Super Smooth, didn't bleed like this paper did. I really did color within the lines, honest! So, I'm off to purchase more of my Neenah.

And I HAVE to show off my bow. I used my Craft-Dee BowZ tool and made this very pretty bow with it.  I added this cute orange enameled metal butterfly with a piece of embroidery thread. I love embroidery thread since it comes in so many different colors and is easy to tie a bow, unlike some of the wax coated threads. I thread embroidery thread in all my buttons, too (on other cards).

I don't do many CAS cards and enjoy this type of cardmaking with the many layers and embellishments. I'm not sure why, but I think getting really involved in making a fussy card is what helps de-compress me from work and other things that weigh on my mind.

Since this is the 4th and last Tuesday of the month and our challenge is monthly, guess what...you need to get your cards posted on the Craft-Dee BowZ challenge blog where the topic is ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HANDMADE BOW this week by February 28.  I hope you'll join in since the prize is a reel of ribbon and who doesn't want a reel a ribbon!

                                                                              Hugs,
                                                                        Gail

    1. Patty Sue, I am very happy to stay with my 6x6 cards for a very long time. I didn't post how much paper I wasted to get this card shape since I didn't want to win any challenges on the sympathy factor. hahaha!

  9. LOL - you worry too much, Gail, as this card is yet another perfect creation of yours. Very ambitious of you to do a step card that requires all the measuring and cutting of papers and embellishments - more than I want to tackle, that's for sure. Lovely fence, flowers, bow and coloring of this cute image. But, you will need to get out there and mow that grass - hahaha!! Good luck in the challenges you've entered.

  10. Wow, Gail, I love this! I am a big fan of Di's Digis anyway - her designs are so adorable! I really like the side-step design here - I have only tried center-step style myself and this one is on my list to try! All the die cuts look amazing and, of course, the bow is totally gorgeous! The charm is a nice touch! You said you don't do many CAS cards - I must say I go through phases where I only want to do CAS cards! But then I miss my embellished cards and have to return to them. I really enjoy all card styles - I've even been looking at mixed media lately and would love to try it but need to work up the courage hehe! Have a good day, my friend!
