Beautiful Monarchs for Mother's Day

Well, having a mom and a mother-in-law means making two Mother's Day cards. Here's the card I made for my husband's mom.  I used a digital stamp by Eureka and you can find this image here. For perspective, my card is 6"x6".

This week I am honored to be invited as a Guest Designer for Scrapping 4 Fun Challenges and the challenge this week is "Happy Mother's Day" and please be sure to put the sentiment on your card to meet the challenge requirements! 

I used three different design papers for this card, and they are such old papers that even if I remembered where I got them, the store has either closed or gotten new and different stock by now. I estimate I got the pink/orange/yellow paisley paper prior to 2007 because that was when I started making 6"x6" cards and only buying 12"x12" paper--and this piece of paper was only 8.5"x11". The orange polka dot paper is a piece just big enough for this card leftover from last Halloween and the yellow striped paper was just a strip and leftover from a card made a year ago for a challenge of polka dots and stripes. The black papers I used as layering...well, each piece is a different texture cause I'm trying to use up these leftover pieces but it worked great on this card!

The sentiment and the punch is by Stampin' Up (and I dug this little piece of yellow paper out of my trash can so I didn't have to cut into a 'good' piece of paper). The punch along the bottom of the card is by Martha Stewart and is named "doily". The flower in the center of the bow is actually a button from Dress It Up! and I cut off the shank and glued it on. The large Monarch butterfly was die cut for me by my best friend, Lillian, and is by Impression Obsession. I colored this with Copics.

 

 

It's been a while since I've colored something other than people or snowmen.  I'm happy with how the card came out and think I'll color a few floral images since I'm in the mood. Can't ever have enough colored images done, can you?  Thanks for stopping by and looking at this card.
