Use That Ribbon!

The challenge this week at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog is USE THAT RIBBON!  We all have ribbon we cherish and have 'saved'. It's time to break into that stash and we'd love to see some of that special ribbon you've been hoarding...I mean, saving. The image I used this week is named The Lovely Ballerina and she's a digi by our sponsor, The Paper Shelter.

This card is made with one of my favorite color combinations: purples and greens. My papers are from Michael's.  I used my Stampin' Up punch to punch out my Lili of the Valley sentiment. The purple swirls in the bouquet are a die by Magnolia and the leaves are a Martha Stewart punch.

    

Isn't this ribbon just gorgeous? It's satin edged with a light wire in it, and then down the middle of the ribbon are lavendar roses with the green leaves which are machine embroidered. I've been saving this ribbon for the "right" card and because of the paper and image, it matches perfectly!!!! See that flower and leaf in the center of the bow? Those are actually buttons by "Dress It Up!" and are from the package called:  Tiny Country Flowers. I cut the button shank off the leaf button and glued it to the ribbon. Then I cut the button shank off the purple flower button and glued that to the leaf. My flowers are a combination of Prima and Wild Orchid Crafts. The crocheted purple flower behind the large purple flower is hand crocheted by a family member. I added some gold Stickles glitter to the edges of the flowers to tie in the gold half pearls on the right side of the card.

 

 

The image is colored with Copics and is cut with a die with a matching overlay die by Memory Box. I cut the overlay die out of a transparency sheet and then used my Copics to just go over it lightly for a wisp of color. I used my Spellbinders scallop die cut to cut the purple glitter paper behind the image. I used my Cool Glitter Ritz loose glitter on her tutu and sleeves.

 

I would love to see you enter this challenge. Honestly, who doesn't have RIBBON in their stash of supplies?!  If you've been saving a "special" piece, please use it this week and show it off since I'd love to see it, as would so many other ribbon hoarders--I mean collectors. That pretty ribbon on my card has been in a drawer for over 5 years now and it's so nice to see it on this card! And do you remember the bonus if you use an image from The Paper Shelter?  Read below!
