Me and my Schwinn!

How did we get around when we were kids? I rode a bicycle or rollerskated. We rode our bikes or rollerskated everywhere! Summer was awesome in Connecticut and whenever I see bicycles, I think of summer days and the lilacs, violets, wild lily of the valleys, elm trees, hyacinths, fresh cucumbers, oak trees, poison ivy and sumac, pansies, fruit trees, and our above-ground swimming pool that the water was always cold. So many fond memories!

It's thinking of those days that when I was putting away some rubber stamps last week and ran across this stamp by Flower Soft that I decided to make a card with it. Just make a card. Not for any reason except because it was a pretty image that made me smile and remember back when.

I used my ancient set of Peerless watercolor paints. There's so little paint left on them that I ordered a new set from Sweet Stamps. They're awesome and if you want to experiment with watercoloring, that's the way to go. I used an EK punch for the white 'trellis' on the side.  I made a triple looped bow with my Craft-Dee Bow ribbon maker and slid an extra 'tail' in the loop and I added a button in the middle with baker's twine through the holes. The sentiment is from Lili of the Valley. To put this card in perspective, it's 5"x7".  I'd like to thank my friend, Patty, for the layout...she sent me a card and the layout had a pretty trellis punch and ribbon up the side of the image which I thought looked pretty so I've use the same idea.

Thanks for stopping by and looking at my card!

                                                                                     Hugs,
                                                                                     Gail

  19. Ah, yes, those trips down memory lane. Sure don't see enough kids out nowadays using bikes, skateboards, rollerskates, or any such devices, which is really sad. Lovely flowers, both front and back of this bike and I'm betting they smell as wonderful as they look! Fabulous diecut and bow and love keeping the main card focus on the bike itself. Wonderful creation, Gail.
