Pretty in Purple

There's a new challenge Craft-Dee BowZ for May! Our challenge is ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HANDMADE BOW!  To inspire you to join us, each of the Design Team have made a new creation to motivate you to pull out your ribbons.  Please take a look at the Challenge Blog and the creations by the Team!

The set of dies behind the butterfly are by Sue Wilson. The beautiful butterfly die is by Marianne. To put the size in perspective, my card is 6"x6".  After die cutting the butterfly I used some golden yellow ink and a finger dauber and inked the butterfly up a bit. After doing that I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to each of the 'dots' on the die cut for dimension and a touch of shine. The pearls on the butterfly are from Michael's and the clear marble type flat-backed embellishments are from a convention and the package has no name on it. The sentiment is a die by Cheery Lynn.

I love flowers and these two stick-pins went pretty with my colors of this card. I used a Martha Stewart punch for the leaves. The flowers are from JoAnn's, Wild Orchid, Prima and my local lace shop.

Nothing finishes off a card better than a beautiful triple looped bow which I made with my Craft-Dee BowZ tool. You look at this bow and see how the middle is so pretty yet the ribbon is wide, right?  What I did was...after making the bow, I took an extra piece of ribbon, cut off one edge and then folded the ribbon and glued the edge back on and then wrapped it around my bow center and glued it on the back. I'm super happy with this bow and since I love purple, this ribbon was perfect for me. Thank you Donna at Craft-Dee BowZ!

This begins our month long challenge at Craft-Dee BowZ where the challenge is ANYTHING GOES AND INCLUDE A HANDMADE BOW. Head on over to the challenge blog and see what the Design Team have made to start the month long May challenge.

Thanks for coming over and checking out my post and I hope you like this card as much as I do, even though I didn't color anything and only "inked" a bit! This card is a stretch for me since there's no hand colored image. I was afraid an image would look silly next to the wide and gorgeous bow so I chose to use this gorgeous butterfly as my 'image'.  I do believe this might be one of only 3 cards in my life that I've made that don't have a hand colored image!

                                                                                     Hugs,
                                                                                     Gail

  5. I don't think 'pretty' does this card justice...it's stunning! I didn't even think about the lack of an image until you mentioned it as the butterfly is such a fabulous focal point :-)
The bow is gorgeous of course and what a clever tip about cutting the middle piece to fit!

    Big hugs, Kat xx

  8. Love the subtle colors you've added to the butterfly, as well as the pearls - they set it off perfectly. And, what's the chance to have the exact stickpin colors of your card -- you did some planning ahead of time there, unless it's one of those rare "fluke" moments - hahaha!! Few and far between. Your bow is, as always, awesomely beautiful. And look at that elegant bouquet of flowers . . . mmmm, I swear, I can smell them from here. Your diecuts add to that "lacey" look, also. I'd say this is a "winner" !!
