Hark The Angel Sing!

My favorite cards to make are winter/Christmas cards. I think it's because I live in the Phoenix, Arizona USA desert and don't have snow where I live. That doesn't mean I don't know what snow is...I grew up in Connecticut where we had LOTS of cold and snow. But I do love the spirit of the holidays and the fact that our winter weather is beautiful!  I'm participating in a new release at Crafty Sentiments Designs Inspirational Blog where the theme is "Christmas in July". We begin our two day preview today with the stamps available on July 25, 2014 at Crafty Sentiments Designs. The new stamp I used is named: "Hark The Angel Sing".

The supplies I used on this card are as follows: Basic Gray paper; Memory Box music die cut; Prima poinsettia petals and leaves (which I layered, used a brad in the middle and then glittered the edges of the poinsettias and the leaves); Whimsy sentiment with the matching die cut; Live and Laugh Crafts lace; JoAnn's red and gold metallic ribbon; a snowflake brad in the center of the bow (which I embossed with gold embossing powder); and, gold flat back self-adhesive balls in the corner of the image and bottom left corner of the card.

 

I colored the image with Copics but to get that yellow soft glow around the image, I used Pebbles, Inc. yellow pearlescent chalk. I'm hesitant to use a Copic pen around the outside of this image since it's such a dark green and I was afraid it might smear the green ink outside the image. I tried to make this green dress look like velvet and it's a bit darker in real life than in the picture. My little angel's wings are highlighted with a light green Copic and then I coated them with Elizabeth Designs' Warm Diamond Glitter.
