Happy Valentine's Day, Lillian!

Some cards are fun to make; partly the image, or the paper, or even great embellishments. This card was one of those where it was fun for every reason. This card is for Lillian, and Happy Valentine's Day to her, across the miles!

This is my favorite style card. I love girly. Lock me up in a room with lace, ribbon, flowers, rhinestones, pearls and pretty flowery paper and an image anytime! I wasn't girly when I was growing up and learned how to bait my own fish hook, plant my own gardens and I wore jeans every day. As I've gotten older, I have found my groove in the world of cardmaking. And when I stretch out of my comfort zone, THAT'S a challenge!

Everyone knows Tilda. And guess what, I just realized this picture is a little crooked. Sorry about that. Tilt your head a little left, please.  Tilda was colored with Copics (and I love how she came out--especially her hair--now if I could only do that again!). The flowers are from Wild Orchid (big surprise, heh?), and the leaves are a punch from Martha Stewart and the embossed leaves are a punch set by Nellie Snellen.  The doily die is by Stampin' Up, the die behind the image is by Spellbinders, the pearl swirls are new from Prima, and that little round frosted acrylic wafer which I stamped on was purchased at a convention years ago and that's a little heart pearl glued on the wafer. The cheesecloth adds such a nice touch to soften this card and make it even more feminine.

Now, Lillian's favorite color is pink, but she's decided that peach may be the new pink..so this year she's getting peach and teal ... just because her birthday card was pink pink pink. You can see it a couple of cards below this post. Oh, and I sewed on this card. Yep...and I see it's not real straight, but heck, this is NOT a Hallmark card...this is a handmade piece of art that will be worth tons of money when I'm famous even if the sewing isn't perfect. Hahaha.

Well, Happy Valentine's Day, Lillian!

                                                                                     Hugs,
                                                                                     Gail

  17. Oh Gail, not to be too sappy, but my heart sparkled brighter than ever when I saw this sweetness over the weekend. At last I am here to leave you some love (I've not been feeling well). Lillian is truly blessed to receive such thoughtful (and gorgeous) cards from you. This is lovely! The colors are beautiful and you colred Tilda so beautifully. Pearly flourishes are one of my favorite things and it looks wonderful on this delightfully girly creation. Fantastic work, as always! Thank you for sharing this precious creation with us at 7 Kids College Fund!
    Hugs and blessings,

  19. It's not MY fault for being so far down on the comment list, cause Gail ordered me NOT to peek, since she posted my card before it arrived at my house - which was today !! OMG, Gail, your creations just get better and better, not that they weren't ALWAYS just lovely !! Actually, the peach and teal are very complementary to each other and you always seem to have the most perfect coordination of embellishments - it's no wonder our craft tables are so crowded and such a mess when making that ONE special card . . . choosing just the "right touches" to add here and there. Lovely, elegant card, which graces my computer desk - thank you, Gail, and Happy Valentine's Day to you, also -- good luck on some "wins" in the challenges -- you're very deserving !!
