Where's my fairy godmother?

Today begins a new challenge at The Paper Shelter and this time the topic is COME FLY WITH ME (something that can fly on your image). Now that's pretty easy considering it can be just about anything with wings!  As I was thinking about the topic, I realized that one of the images at The Paper Shelter is called My Wish List and I thought she'd be perfect for this challenge and to be a birthday card since she's holding a "wish list" and I had the birthday sentiment "Make a Wish". Now, I don't know about you, but as I made this card, took photos of it, and posted it, I find myself singing the songs from Rogers & Hammerstein's musical "Cinderella". I love that musical so much...the one with Leslie Ann Warren and Stuart Damon and looked forward to seeing it on television every year. I like it so much that I recently bought this 1965 DVD!

I used my Magnolia swirl die and cut the pink and blue swirls out of paint chips. I used a Martha Stewart border bunch and a punch on the sentiment from EK. I colored my background with pink and blue Pebbles Pearlescent chalk using a white pompom.  My flowers are from Wild Orchid and byThita.  On my fairy I used Susie Sparkle Crystal Rainbow glitter on her wings, Cotton Candy Stickles on her petticoat, and Gold Glitter Ritz on her crown. She even has a dot of Glossy Accents on her eyeglass lenses! I added a touch of Star Dust glitter on the flowers.

How do you like my bow?  It tied beautifully and is such pretty ribbon. I'd been saving it for the right card...and this was it! I'm loving my blue palette right now...maybe because it's so hot where I live and the color blue is a cool color? I added a pastel pink with the blue making this card very girly and a favorite color combination for me. After looking at it again I realize...there's no white on this card, which is so unlike me (the chalk was fabulous to use to color my white paper)! Looking below, you can see the detail on this image. To color the little fairy I used my new Ott light that has a magnifier with it. Seriously, I needed a magnifier to color this tiny fairy! My card is 6" x 6".

Let's hop baby!

It's time for a blog hop at Craft-Dee BowZ and the Design Team has created outstanding projects for you this hop!  The Team has focused on "baby" for our topic and to use the colors mint green, lavender and/or yellow. I used this digital baby fairy image by Bugaboo for this card. Making cards for a new baby is a favorite of mine since it's such a joyous occasion.  It's definitely a day to celebrate a birth day!

The green die cut is a die by Quik Cutz and the stitched oval and stitched rectangle are dies by Die-Namics. The pink and white 'buttons' are actually brads covered in pink and white gingham fabric that I cut off the back and glued them on my card. The corner die cut is by Whimsy. Thanks, Donna, for these adorable brads and pretty ribbon!  My paper is just a piece of scrapbook paper but being such a nice even pattern of pastel hearts is what caught my eye for this card background.

I colored my image with Copics. I used my glue pen and applied Warm Glitter Ritz on her wings. On the star I applied clear Wink of Stella over my coloring and then some Glossy Accents. The background is chalked...I used a pastel pink around the image and then a yellow on the outside of the oval and then blended them to meet. I love the look of the chalk around this baby image. It's just enough color without over powering this adorable image.

And here's my bow. This double looped bow tied so perfect using my Craft-Dee BowZ bow tool. And you know how much I like this little tool since I mention in it every post that has a bow. And, that little silver metal pacifier was the perfect charm for this card!

Since this is a blog hop, you'll want to leave comments at each of the stops.  We've got a small team here at Craft-Dee BowZ, so doing our hop is super easy!  Here are the links to follow:

It's always fun to participate in a blog hop where there's a prize...and the prize here is a 25' spool of ribbon. You'll need to leave a comment on each of the stops above, though, to be included in the drawing.  On August 17 a name will be drawn, so please check back at the Craft-Dee BowZ blog to see if you've won!

Thanks for participating in the hop and I hope you like our creations. Good luck in the drawing!

A Magical Birthday

There's a new challenge at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog and the topic is FOR THE BOYS.  This isn't the easiest topic for those of us who do girly cards 99.9% of the time, but there are so many awesome boy images at The Paper Shelter that I know you can find one that you'll like! I used this adorable image named The Cutest Wizard. This little image reminds me so much of the Disney movie, Fantasia featuring Mickey Mouse as The Sorcerer's Apprentice and I can hear the music playing as I colored this.

Just a little note: We have beautiful lights at the Phoenix Zoo each Christmas and since our winter season is mild enough to walk around outside at night, we often go and watch the lights that are in sync with music there. At the farthest back area of the zoo there are some really tall trees that are decked out in Christmas lights and the music they blink to is Fantasia.  It's absolutely wonderful!

I not only made a 'boy' card, I made a CAS card...which is something I have trouble achieving!  I respect those of you who can make CAS cards. I can't manage it, so this card is one I am very proud of. Proud that I didn't 'load' it up!

The image was colored with Copics and I used Glossy Accents on the crystal of his staff and the stars around his hand and then sprinkled Cool Glitter Ritz on the wet Glossy Accents. And I used my Sakura clear glitter pen on his belt buckle. I used light yellow chalk around the image and aqua and purple chalk around the computer generated sentiment.

We're sponsored by The Paper Shelter and they have an awesome weekly prize. Remember to use an image from The Paper Shelter so you win the maximum prize of a $30 voucher to the store. If you use another stamp and your card is chosen, you win three images of your choice.

The Design Team at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog would like you to take a look at their creations and join our challenge this week of FOR THE BOYS.
