Time to decorate!

It's the second Tuesday of the month, which means there's a new challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin'. The topic this month is FESTIVE DECOR. What makes the holidays special for you? I live where we don't get any snow and it's tough to get into the holiday spirit. I love going to the shopping mall to see all the decorations up and the sparkle of the lights. I always try to put the tree up the weekend after Thanksgiving to give me time to get into the holiday spirit as we walk around in shorts and flip flops!  It's not easy living in the desert and celebrating Christmas. I imagine my situation is similar to those south of the equator!

I used the stairway die by Memory Box, the tree with it's overlaid die is by Memory Box, the garland on the hand rail is by Poppy and the wreath is by Spellbinders. My package under the tree, poinsettias and plant pot are all buttons from Dress It Up (and I tied some embroidery thread thro ugh the holes on the pot).  I used assorted tiny rhinestones to represent Christmas lights on my tree and garland and teeny tiny rhinestones for the berries on my wreath. My sentiment is from CardZ TV.

When I look at this card I think of my grandmother's house that had the flowery wallpaper and the stairway leading up to the bedrooms and I smile with childhood memories of the fabulous holidays with all my relatives meeting up at my grandmother's house. My mom comes from a family of 12 kids, all of whom were married and had kids, so you can imagine the noise and all the kids running around from ages infant to college age. This card reminds me of the quiet before the storm...the night before Christmas...when all of us were at our own houses and grammy was resting before we all arrived!

The sponsor for this challenge is Flat Friends who are donating two digital images to the winner.

Please stop by Christmas at Sweet Stampin' and see what the Team has created to inspire you to join the challenge this month of FESTIVE DECOR

                                                                                  Hugs,
                                                                            Gail

  3. It certainly looks as if you're all decked out for the holiday -- although I would have thought you'd use a cactus instead of an evergreen tree - hahaha!! Cute idea to use a bannister and then drape it. Great embellishments of the poinsettia, gift and wreath, also. Fantastic scene on this creation, Gail.

  6. Wow Gail, I love that beautiful holiday scene you created and that decorated tree is just gorgeous. I just wanted to let you know I was able to edit the link up over on the 12 Months of Christmas to reflect that your card does follow the theme.

Thanks so much for joining us again this month! I hope that we become a regular stop for your Christmas cards. Don't forget that linking up two cards each month earns you a free digi paper and of course when you follow the optional theme you get a chance at the sponsor's prize as well. Good luck!

  14. Hi Gail, I saw your comment. So sorry you are having problems. All you need to do is add a Quirky Crafts link to this post BEFORE you click on the link to add your post to Inlinkz linky thing, then it will go straight into the challenge no problems.

You can add it without adding that link first but it will go into a moderation queue then I can approve it if I see you have added a link to Quirky.

I hope you will come back and try again, your card is just right for the challenge.
