A Card With Only Words

This card was a great challenge for me...a card that features a sentiment without an image. The challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' beginning February 11 through March 6 is ONLY WORDS. We're looking for cards that have just a sentiment or words on it -- NO images on the card. Here's my card and this will clarify what the challenge is.

I bought this rubber stamp in the mid 1990's and don't know who made it since I unmounted it. It's a large stamp and to put it in perspective, this card is 6"x6". The photo doesn't depict that this card is all gold and cream, including all the papers. I stamped my image with a clear Versamark ink pad and then used Ranger Extra Fine Embossing Powder. I love the embossed look for cards that have large sentiments. I think it's my favorite technique to use on cards like this. I feel like the embossing dresses up the card. The gold paper that I cut with my Cuttlebug with a Spellbinders die is heavier than normal cardstock; the angel patterned paper, polka dot paper, pearls and gold glittered 1/2 pearls are from my stash. The ribbon is metallic and in the center of the bow is an old broach that I cut off the pin backing and glued it on.

The challenge at Christmas at Sweet Stampin' is sponsored by Sweet Pea Stamps this month. The gals on the Design Team have made cards to inspire you and to clarify the challenge, so please stop by and take a look. Our monthly challenge is a fabulous way to build up your Christmas card stock so you're not in a rush at the end of the year. Please join us the second Wednesday of every month for our new challenge!

                                                                                   Hugs,
                                                                                   Gail

  6. For being only words, it looks like you've aced this challenge, Gail -- great choice of using gold, which dresses it up SO much. I would definitely have a hard time using only words, since I love to color! You've still achieved all the glamor and glitz, using gorgeous papers, pearls and bow. Fabulous creation.
