Using Digital Images

I have grown so much in the last couple of years when it comes to card making and digital images. I'm not the only one who has grown, though. Companies have improved so much that it's now a card maker's delight to use digital images! A great example of awesome digital images are those at The Paper Shelter.

The Design Team at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog have a new challenge for you this week and it's MAKE IT DIGITAL. You can use just a digital image that you color, a pre-colored digital image, or an entire digital card. Whatever you do, though your card needs a digital image that is the main focus of the card.  For my card, I used this sweet, pre-colored image, named The Sweet Gardener.

This pink and green tulip paper, solid lime green and pink polka dot papers are all from my local scrapbook store. I love the color combination of pink and green...maybe because it was the colors of my bedroom while growing up. And the brighter the pink and green, the better..the contrast and how the colors bounce off each other are attractive to me. So when I told my husband I NEEDED this tulip paper, and he didn't understand, well...I know all of you will.

I sewed all of my layers and did my first attempt at sewing an oval. It's not perfect, but you can hardly see where I overlapped the sewing where I started and ended over at her foot in the air. Oh, I shouldn't have told you cause you probably wouldn't have noticed. Aren't we all our own worst critics?! How do you like the pink polka dot button that matches the paper? I won a package of polka dot buttons at Crafty Ribbons not very long ago and this was one of them. How perfect is it?!!!!

I was able to incorporate two of my favorite embellishments, too...lace and ribbon. The ribbon, lace and pom-pom edging are from my stash. The pink rhinestones and the green "Bubbles" are from Queen & Co. That leaf and the ladybug are eyelets from The Eyelet Outlet. The oval die cut around my image is from Sizzix and the outer die cut is from Quik Cutz. The sentiment is from my newest stamp set by Make It Crafty. This is a great sentiment set and I love it because I can make a birthday card and use my large "Happy Birthday" stamps inside and use one of these stamps on the front!

This image is digitally colored so wonderfully and is so summery. I think it's a great example of the awesome art work of Pedro and Veronica, who are the artists and owners of The Paper Shelter. My additions to this pre-colored image are that I added some pink around the edge of the oval and used my Copics to add the grass. For the sparkle that I love, I added Warm Glitter Ritz to the ribbon on her hat, the patch on her pants and also on the flowers.

The gals at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog have made great cards, all with digital images, to inspire you for this challenge of MAKE IT DIGITAL. This is a great chance to head over to The Paper Shelter and purchase an image so you can use the pre-colored image in this challenge! We're looking forward to seeing your art work this week!
