I made the card below using Theodore Shamrocks. I just love this image and how cute he is with this little ladybug on his hat. I am disclosing up front the fact that I saw a card with this layout at the blog Will Stamp for Wine and knew the layout would work for me with this image. This is an awesome layout and I'll be using it again!
Here's a close-up of this image and so can someone tell me how do you color a ladybug's face since if I colored it black it would cover up all of her features? I went with gray but am not keen on it. If you've got any ideas, write them in the comment section below as I read every comment I receive. Aren't these beautiful cut green jewels? They have such a great sparkle.
And there are times that a bow turns out absolutely perfect, and this is one of them. I used my little bow tool to make this double looped satin bow. I didn't want to load this card up with a bunch of embellishments since these jewels and this bow were so pretty and I wanted them to show up!
The team has made a variety of cards for this Inspiration Week post and they're over on our Facebook page. Please jump on over there and take a look at the great creations! One lucky winner will be awarded a $10.00 Gift Voucher to the LMMS shop!
Thanks for stopping by!

This is a gorgeous card, and I can say from first-hand experience (cause I'm the lucky recipient of this awesomeness!!) that this card is even cuter in hand. As nice as photos are, they just can't pick up all the minute details. I swear, every time I look at this card, I seem to catch some little nuance that I didn't take note of before! Superb coloring/shading (and BTW, there's nothing wrong with your ladybug coloring, Gail), the gems are like prisms, the bow is perfect, and what a cute little tag, not to mention the multiple layers and fine stitching. Thanks, my friend -- I feel like I've gotten the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow with this fabby card !! It's definitely a winner in my book.
ReplyDeleteVery adorable!! I love papers & image. Thank for playing with us at Di's Digi challenge.

Very cute and nicely embellished. I'm no coloring expert but maybe using colored pencil on the outer edge of her face a blening lightly inward would give you a bit more of the black look? To be honest, she looks just fine the way she is and I'm so happy you entered in the PIP challenge.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with your card and the layout....I can see where it would work for so many different types of cards! Sweet image, and you've colored him perfectly! Beautiful embellishments!! Thanks for joining us at PIP Challenges!

Beautiful card, everything just goes together so beautifully. Personally I would try colouring in black at the edges toward dark grey in the centre then go over the features with a white gel pen
ReplyDeleteVery sweet card. Love all the green on your card. Thanks for playing along Simon Says Stamp A Bit O Green Challenge. Gayatri xx
