A spring birthday!

The challenge at The Paper Shelter Challenge Blog this week is BIRTHDAY WITH A SENTIMENT.  Now how hard can that be since we all need and make birthday cards!  Just be sure to put a sentiment on the front of your birthday card. Today I used Spring Breeze from The Paper  Shelter. Isn't she an adorable image?!  I had one large piece of pink and yellow flowered paper and then scraps of yellow and pinks so I made my image and embellishment to match my papers. Spring in the Arizona desert consists of flowering cactus and we have yellow, pink and white flowers on the tips of so many cactus right now!

This card was one of my favorites to make since the colors pink and yellow are one of my favorite color combinations. The oval die of my image is by DieZyne Dies and the polka dot die cut is a die by Sue Wilson.  The butterfly is a die by Joy! and the baby buttons are from my stash.  My sentiment is stamped on scrap pink printed paper and then glued down to a piece of rectangle acrylic from Mod Podge.

When asked if I like "lines" or "no lines" images, I have to pick "lines". I like having the definition and think it adds much more detail to the image. My image is colored with Copics and I used my Sakura glue pen and added Warm Glitter Ritz to the lace on her petticoat, dress and umbrella. This is my favorite glitter because it is so fine and although there are times I forget to turn off my ceiling fan and then track glitter through the house, the glitter helps detract visitors from seeing the dust bunnies running across the floor.  The clear iridescent jewels are actually crystals that I glued onto my card. These Swarovski jewels are so beautiful and have a shine much nicer than clear rhinestones.

The flowers I used are an assortment. The fluffy pink one with the orange center is from Magnolia; the two round rolled roses are from The Ribbon Girl, the 2 tulips are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the yellow lily and 2 small yellow and white and 1 small pink and white flower are from I Am Roses. As you can tell, I love flowers from everywhere and have such a stash of them that if I stopped by flowers for 2 years, I'd still have more than I need. The leaf punch is from Martha Stewart and I punched my leaves in pink printed paper so as to not detract from the arrangement. My little umbrella charm is from my stash as is the doily, paper and pearls.
