I've had a great time making this card and layered 3 different laces/ribbon to get the gold, red and white towards the bottom of the card. I used gold flat backed pearls on the white lace along with on the image. The tiny glittered candy canes are actually in the ornament section of Hobby Lobby. Since candy canes never go out of style, I'm sure they're still there although I've had these for years in my fishing tackle box of miscellaneous embellishments. All I did was take off the gold string that was tied around each one as the 'hanger' and then glue the candy canes on my gold ribbon. I used a punch to cut out the sentiment and then ran glitter all the way around it. The peppermint candy in the middle of the bow is a brad that I cut off the back legs and glued it on the bow...another tackle box embellishment.
How do you like her wings? I used my glue pen and then sprinkled White Glitter Ritz to completely cover her wings. I've had this White Glitter Ritz for 2 years now and never opened the bottle. Why? I don't know...but I think I've found a great glitter for wings! And I did add a dash of clear Glossy Accents on the berries in her hair. I took out my Spica pens and added some green to the holly in her hair for some shine. The gold bow on the image..well, I wasn't happy with how I colored the gold bow the first time, so I colored a second bow and adhered it with foam tape and you don't see the mistake in the middle of the bottom bow at all! I then added some yellow Spica pen to the darker gold edges of the bow for some sparkle. The sparkle of this card doesn't show up very well in the photos.
The prize for this challenge is a $30 gift certificate if your name is chosen and you've used an image from The Paper Shelter. If you don't use an image from TPS, the prize is 3 digis.
The Design Team has made outstanding projects for this challenge as an inspiration for you. I'm not sure how much inspiration you really need, however, since most of us are looking at the calendar knowing we need to get our cards done. We'd love to see your creations, and would love to see more images from TPS used in the challenges!
Hugs,
Gail

Your cards are always, without a doubt, awesome and over the top, Gail !! You pay such close attention to every little detail and make sure it all coordinates and looks pleasing to the eye, until you're satisfied -- and if you never point out errors you made or things you didn't like how they turned out, we'd never even know it!! Your holly background paper is fabulous, as well as the peppermint on the bow, and the candy canes are yummy, and oh my, THREE kinds of lace/ribbon - how could you part with it !! LOL - this is definitely "sweet Christmas".
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful! I love your colouring! So many gorgeous details to look at! I love those little candy canes and the candy on your bow! Wouldn't I have fun looking at your tackle boxes of embellishments! Your ribbon and lace are beautiful and I love how you glittered her wings. Very creative way to correct the colouring problem - would never have known! Hope you are having a good day!
