A Black and White Challenge

I won the Gold Award at the bastel-traum challenge with my card I love ice cream. The prize was a Guest Design Spot for the current challenge at bastel-traum of BLACK AND WHITE. Here's my card for the challenge which I hope inspires you.

My card is 6"x6". It is a basic white heavy cardstock base and then I placed black cardstock and then a nesting diecut by Cheery Lynn in white, then another piece of black cardstock which I put white pearls in the 3 corners, then another layer in white. I placed the Merry Christmas sentiment from a die by Frantic Stamper on top of the white layer.

Here's a close of my poinsettia. I made this flower by using the Creative Expressions die set and the matching stamp set named Elegant Poinsettias. I stamped it with my black Colorbox pad and embossed it with clear embossing powder. Then I took my clear Wink of Stella pen and colored over the leaves to give them a glittery shine. The brad in the middle was silver so I put some VersaMark ink on it, embossed it with white embossing powder and then applied clear Wink of Stella on it. The black and white ribbon is from Michael's and it made a great double loop bow.

I'd like to thank Ute and the bastel-traum team for the opportunity to be their Guest Designer for this challenge and hope you'll consider joining in the BLACK AND WHITE challenge this week.

                                                                               Hugs,
                                                                               Gail

  2. Oh, this is stunning! I love black and white as a colour combination but it can look a bit stark - the poinsettias and the scalloped layers really soften the design, making a very stylish card. xx

  3. An elegant card, Gail - for only being black and white, this turned out pretty stunning, although I know how tempting it was for you (or myself) to make that poinsettia red - hahaha. The pearls, bow and diecuts are wonderful together.
